Gillian’S EPHEMERA PARTY

May 2, 2025

“It was lovely and a nice moment to reflect on the items I carry with me. I don’t often take the time to walk the house, reflect on what I’ve chosen to keep over the years, and why certain items resonate for me. It is a little revealing but I trust that those viewing it will understand the vulnerable nature of the exercise.”

“It was nice to bring it out something that lives deep inside me. It's a nice way to share yourself with others, honest and intimate.”

“I enjoyed the decision making and reflecting process, and also the discoveries I made of items I didn't end up bringing. It was a wonderful evening full of stories and connections... and some really beautiful items and memories.”

“Invariably you will find you have been cared for, connected with and loved at many points, in many ways in your life. whether because the objects are gifts, or they connect to an experience you shared with someone, or because they remind you of a part of yourself that you love/have loved.”

“I was surprised by the sheer number of knickknacks and personal items I had around the house. I guess I tend to collect things—particularly things that remind me of special people or experiences. Once I started sorting through everything though, the items to select became clear. My mother, my daughter, and my writing are all foundational to my identity so the things connected to them were the obvious ones to choose! It’s an odd experience to hand over three ordinary objects and to hope that somehow the person receiving them will be able to appreciate how cherished they are!”

“Fond memories of loved ones, Great time to reflect.”
